L

Ladies: A pair of queens in the hole.

Late Position: Position on a round of betting where the player must act after most of the other players have acted.  In no limit hold’em this a good place to play hands.

Lay Down: To fold your hand.

Lead: First bet in a pot.

Limit Poker: A poker game in which there is a fixed limit on how much the players can bet or raise in a round.

Limp: The minimum bet in the first round of poker.

Limp In: To enter the pot by calling rather than raising.

Live Blind: An option to raise on the blind even if no opponents have done so previously.

Live Card: Cards that have not been seen and are presumably still in play.

Live Hand: Having “outs” is considered to be a live hand.

Live One: An inexperienced player that has been winning many pots.

Lock: A guaranteed win of at least a portion of the pot or a hand that can’t lose.

Look: Calling the final bet to see the showdown.

Loose: Playing many hands.

Lowball: A form of draw poker in which the lowest hand wins the pot.

Low Poker: A poker game in which the pot is awarded to the lowest hand.
